We will recall the ancient Homeric myths of the Iliad and the Odyssey: Ulysses, the sorceress Circe, the blinding of the giant Polyphemus.
Given the great success of this spectacular Archaeoastronomy event on 18 June 2022, the Director of the Archaeological Museum of Sperlonga, archaeologist Cristiana Ruggini has once again arranged an extraordinary evening opening until 10.00 pm, to admire the magic light in the Grotto of Tiberius which can only be seen at the Summer Solstice.
Marina De Franceschini, archaeologist and scholar of Cultural Archaeoastronomy, discovered the astronomical orientation of the Grotto of Tiberius towards the sunset of the Summer Solstice. She will explain the symbolic meaning of its decoration and of the magic illuminations that take place in the Grotto.
